SCIF Components & Subsystems

Building a SCIF to accreditation requires more than RF shielding and a certified door. Every system inside the facility, power, climate control, data distribution, cabinetry, access hardware, and structural fabrication, has to be specified, installed, and verified as part of a complete build. Clegg Industries designs and installs all of these subsystems in-house, which is one of the reasons our clients come to us for full SCIF construction rather than managing a string of separate contractors.

We have been building specialty vehicles, trailers, and structures with integrated subsystems for nearly 50 years. The depth of that experience means our technicians understand not just how to install a component, but how each component interacts with the others in a finished facility that has to pass third-party testing and accreditation review.

The subsystems below represent the major categories we supply and install. Each is handled by Clegg's in-house technical staff, and each can be scoped as part of a full SCIF build or as a standalone installation on an existing platform.

Generators

SCIFs and secure facilities often require independent power that is not shared with unsecured building systems. Clegg Industries installs auxiliary generators across a full range of power output levels, from small self-contained units to large generators capable of supplying full electrical power to a trailer or structure. We size and specify the generator to your facility's load requirements and integrate it with the facility's electrical panel and power filtering systems.

Air Conditioning and Heating

HVAC design in a SCIF is not a standard installation. All air penetrations through the shielded envelope must be treated with honeycomb filters to maintain RF attenuation, and the system must manage temperature without creating pathways for signal leakage. We select and install HVAC systems appropriate to each platform and deployment environment, including mil-spec units for military applications and climates that require solutions beyond standard commercial equipment. Fuel sources include electricity, diesel, and propane depending on operational requirements.

Electronic Integration

Electronic integration in a SCIF goes well beyond standard wiring. Secure and unsecure data systems have to be physically separated, power distribution has to be filtered and isolated, and access control and intrusion detection systems have to be wired and commissioned to the facility's security requirements. Our electrical technicians plan and install power distribution systems, electronic connectivity and data raceway, closed-circuit camera systems, satellite communication infrastructure, alarm systems, and custom patch panels. This is one of the most technically demanding parts of any SCIF build, and we handle it with the same in-house team that builds the rest of the facility.

Custom Cabinets

Interior cabinetry in a SCIF serves a functional purpose: it houses operator workstations, equipment racks, secure storage, and utility runs in a way that keeps the space organized and usable under operational conditions. We fabricate and install custom cabinets in plastic laminate, finished wood, aluminum, and steel depending on the application. Explosion-proof and corrosion-resistant options are available for specialized deployment environments. Past installations include mobile operations trailers for the U.S. Air Force and mobile laboratory platforms for government health agencies.

Restrooms

SCIFs built for extended deployment or large crews require self-contained restroom facilities. We design and install complete restroom systems including plumbing, fixtures, and finished interior surfaces in mobile and modular platforms. Past installations include personnel trailers for utility and emergency response operations, mobile pharmacies for the Department of Veterans Affairs, and command center vehicles for law enforcement agencies.

Telescopic Masts

Antenna mast systems are a common component on mobile command and communications platforms, and they are frequently integrated into mobile SCIF and electronic shelter builds that require external antenna access. We specialize in the installation of pneumatic and manual crank telescopic masts on specialty vehicles and trailers. Our shop can manufacture custom mounting brackets, cable management systems, and associated hardware to fit any platform. Custom Design and Fabrication

Not every SCIF component is a catalog item. Some builds require parts that do not exist off the shelf: custom acoustic structures, specialized mounting hardware, shielded enclosures, machined adapter components, vehicle access stairs, safety rails, or one-off fabrications built to a drawing or a concept. Our fabrication shop works in steel and aluminum and has produced custom components for defense contractors, military branches, and government agencies. One Contractor for the Complete Build

One of the practical advantages of working with Clegg Industries is that we do not subcontract the subsystem work to outside trades. Our electrical technicians, fabricators, HVAC installers, carpenters, and certified welders are all on staff, working in the same facility, under the same quality program. That coordination matters on a SCIF build, where every system has to work together and where the facility cannot be approved until everything passes third-party testing.
