SCIF Trailers

A trailer-mounted SCIF gives defense and government clients a deployable secure facility that can be towed to a forward operating location, positioned on a base or installation, and repositioned as mission requirements change. Unlike a vehicle-based mobile SCIF, a trailer can be unhitched and operated as a semi-fixed facility for as long as needed, then transported again when the mission moves.

Clegg Industries has built custom SCIF trailers for military branches, defense contractors, and government agencies for nearly 50 years. We build on bumper-pull, gooseneck and fifth-wheel, and tractor-trailer platforms, and we engineer every build to the customer's specific accreditation requirements, operational environment, and transport constraints. There is no standard configuration. Each SCIF trailer we build starts with your requirements.

What We Build Into Every SCIF Trailer

Trailer-mounted SCIFs present a different set of engineering considerations than fixed structures. The facility has to maintain its RF and acoustic performance while being transported over road, which means every penetration, door seal, and structural joint has to be built to handle vibration and transit loads without compromising shielding integrity.

Our SCIF trailer builds typically include the following.

Clegg trailer structure manufacturing

RF and EMI Shielding

Full RF attenuation and EMI shielding built to ICD 705 and applicable TEMPEST requirements, including treatment of all penetrations, HVAC openings, door frames, and cable entry points.

Acoustic Treatment

STC-rated construction including sound deadening insulation, sheetrock, plywood, wall carpet, and acoustic ceiling tile installed to meet the facility's accreditation level.

Access Control and Security Hardware

Certified SCIF doors with STC and RF ratings, CDX10 and cipher and day lock hardware, IDS installation, and ACS configuration. Vestibule construction incorporated where required by accreditation requirements.

Electrical and Power Systems

Isolated power panel, power filtering, and separated secure and unsecure data raceway. Generator integration for off-grid operation where required. US and foreign electrical standards supported.

HVAC with Honeycomb Filtration

Air conditioning and heating systems selected and installed for the platform and deployment climate, with honeycomb filters on all HVAC penetrations through the shielded envelope.

Interior Build-Out

Operator workstations, LED lighting, data ports, monitor mounting, and interior finishes built to your crew size and equipment layout.

Testing and Documentation

Third-party RFI and acoustical testing with written report. ATTLA and Internal Air Transport Certification support available for air-transportable configurations.

Types of SCIF Trailers

The right trailer type depends on your payload requirements, tow vehicle availability, deployment distance, and how the facility will be used once it reaches its destination. Browse past projects by configuration:

Goosenecks and Fifth Wheels

Gooseneck and fifth-wheel configurations are the most common for SCIF trailers. The hitch design provides stability for heavier enclosed builds and handles well over long transport distances. Past projects include a 40 ft. trailer-mounted mobile SCIF and a custom SCIF trailer built to full RF and acoustic accreditation requirements.

Bumper Pulls

Bumper-pull SCIF trailers are suited for smaller footprints that need to be towed by a standard pickup or light truck. We have built custom RF shielded SCIF trailers in this configuration for defense and government clients where operational flexibility and a smaller tow vehicle were priorities.

Tractor Trailers

Tractor-trailer SCIFs provide the largest interior volume available in a wheeled configuration. These are suited for applications requiring large crew capacity, extensive equipment racks, or integrated subsystems that need more space. Past projects include the Eglin Air Force Base Mobile Test Trailer.

Open Trailers and Flatbeds

Open and flatbed trailers are used for equipment and support transport rather than enclosed SCIF builds, but are part of our full trailer fabrication capability and are frequently used alongside SCIF trailer projects.

Compliance and Certification

Our compliance posture is documented and verifiable. Clegg Industries holds active registration with the U.S. Department of State's Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC) and operates in full compliance with ITAR, the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), and all U.S. export control laws applicable to the design and manufacture of specialty military trailers and structures. If your procurement process requires a compliance review, we will work directly with your contracting and security teams to provide what they need.
