Mobile SCIF Vehicles

A mobile SCIF built on a self-propelled vehicle platform gives intelligence and defense personnel a deployable, road-ready secure facility that does not require a separate tow vehicle and can be repositioned quickly as mission requirements change. Clegg Industries has built custom mobile SCIFs and shielded vehicle platforms for the U.S. military, federal agencies, and defense contractors for nearly 50 years, and we build each one to the customer's specific accreditation and operational requirements.

We work on three vehicle classes: light vehicles including vans and sprinters, heavy vehicles including box trucks and specialty coaches, and motor home-style platforms built for extended deployment. The right platform depends on your crew size, equipment load, deployment environment, and how the facility will be used once it reaches its destination.

What We Build Into Vehicle-Based Mobile SCIFs

Every mobile SCIF we build starts with the vehicle platform and is engineered outward from there. The structural, shielding, electrical, and interior requirements all have to account for the fact that this facility will be moving, which means vibration, transit loads, power management on the road, and environmental exposure all factor into the design.

Our mobile SCIF vehicle builds typically include the following.

RF and EMI Shielding

The vehicle body is modified to meet RF attenuation and EMI shielding requirements per ICD 705 and applicable TEMPEST standards. This includes treatment of all penetrations, including HVAC openings, cable entry points, doors, and windows.

Acoustic Treatment

Sound deadening insulation, interior wall construction, and acoustic ceiling systems are installed to meet STC rating requirements for the facility's accreditation level.

Access Control and Security Hardware

Certified SCIF doors with appropriate hardware, IDS installation, and ACS configuration are built into the vehicle entry points. Vestibule construction can be incorporated where required.

Electrical and Power Systems

Isolated power panels, power filtering, and separate secure and unsecure data raceway are installed to specification. We design for both shore power connection and on-board generator operation depending on the mission profile. US and foreign electrical standards are both supported.

Interior Build-Out

Operator workstations, LED lighting, data ports, monitor mounting, and interior finishes are built to your crew size and equipment requirements. We work from your approved interior layout or develop one based on your operational needs.

Testing and Documentation

Third-party RFI and acoustical testing with a written test report is available and can be coordinated to support your accreditation review.

SCIF Vehicle Configurations

We build mobile SCIFs across three vehicle classes. Each has different capabilities for deployment distance, crew capacity, self-sufficiency, and ground clearance.

Motor Home Style Vehicles

Motor home and coach-style platforms are well suited for mobile SCIFs that need to support larger crews, house more equipment, or operate in the field for extended periods without returning to a base facility. The larger footprint allows for more complete interior build-outs including dedicated workstation areas, separate compartments, and integrated utility systems.

Heavy Vehicles

Box trucks, large vans, and custom heavy chassis platforms offer a balance of interior volume and road mobility. We have built mobile command and intelligence platforms on heavy vehicle chassis for the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army, Boeing, and other defense and government clients. These platforms are suited for builds that need more interior volume than a light vehicle can provide but more road flexibility than a motor home coach.

Light Vehicles

Sprinter vans, cargo vans, and other light vehicle platforms are used for mobile SCIF applications that require a smaller footprint, easier parking and access in urban or base environments, or lower operational visibility. We have built shielded and intelligence-configured light vehicles for agencies including the ATF and U.S. Army.

Compliance and Certification

Clegg Industries is registered with the U.S. Department of State's Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC) and is fully compliant with ITAR, the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), and all applicable U.S. export control laws covering the design and manufacture of specialty military vehicles and structures. We understand that clients working in classified programs cannot take risks with the compliance posture of their manufacturers, and we make our registrations and quality documentation available for review as part of the procurement process.
