Custom Specialty Vehicles

Clegg Industries builds custom specialty vehicles in our Victoria, TX shop. We build command centers, mobile labs, mobile clinics, SWAT vans, and mobile service vehicles. We start from a bare chassis, your drawings, or a vehicle you already own.

Our project pages show more than 70 specialty vehicles. We have built for every branch of the U.S. military, federal agencies, defense contractors, and NASA’s space shuttle program since 1979. When you call us, a person picks up.

Specialty Vehicles We Build

Command Centers

Command centers give a team a place to plan, talk, and run an event from the field. We build them for fire departments, sheriff’s offices, cities, and industrial plants.

Mobile Labs and Clinics

Mobile labs and clinics take the work to the people who need it. We have built medical vans, a mobile vet clinic, a mobile dental unit, and mobile classrooms.

Law Enforcement Vehicles

We build SWAT vans and transport vans. We also modify armored vehicles with running boards, rear platforms, and custom battering rams.

Mobile Service Vehicles

Mobile ATM vans, mobile post office units, bookmobiles, and mobile job centers bring a service to the street.

Light, Heavy, and Motor Home Platforms

We build on three kinds of platforms. Each category below links to our past builds.

01

Light vehicles

Sprinter vans, Ford Transit vans, and cutaway vans.

02

Heavy vehicles

Box trucks, medium-duty chassis like the Ford F650, buses, and armored vehicles.

03

Motor home style vehicles

What We Build Into a Specialty Vehicle

Every specialty vehicle is different. These are the systems we build in most often.

  • Generators, shore power, and auto transfer switches
  • Rooftop AC and heat
  • 12-volt, 110-volt, and 220-volt power
  • Radio stations, antenna racks, and telescoping masts
  • Custom cabinets and counters
  • Computer workstations and network wiring
  • ADA wheelchair lifts
  • Water tanks and water heaters
  • Awnings, steps, and roof platforms
  • Camera systems

Rework, Repair, and Refurbish

A lot of our vehicle work starts with a vehicle the client already owns. We modify, repair, and refurbish specialty vehicles. That includes armored vehicles.

  • New floor plans and cabinets in existing motorhomes
  • Upgrades to aging command centers and their masts
  • Running boards, rear platforms, and door repairs on armored vehicles
  • Body repair, rust treatment, epoxy primer, and polyurethane paint in our 65-foot paint booth

One Shop Builds the Whole Vehicle

Most vehicle builders do the body and send you somewhere else for the rest. Clegg does it all in one shop. Our crew does the metal work, wiring, generators, HVAC, cabinets, and paint. You get one contract and one team.

Need a trailer instead of a vehicle, or both? The same shop builds command trailers and mobile labs too.

Who We Build For

We build for the military, federal agencies, defense contractors, and NASA’s space shuttle program. We also build for sheriff’s offices, fire departments, cities, schools and universities, clinics, and banks.
